Mission Sending

The final day of the Fourth World Apostolic Congress on Mercy was Friday, Jan. 20, 2017. It was held in Bataan, Philippines near the ocean and the theme was God’s mercy and the environment.

Throughout the morning, international delegates at WACOM 4 heard talks reflecting on Pope Francis’ encyclical letter on Care for our Common Home, “Laudato Si.” The presentations of the morning were, “Mercy and Laudato Si: Conserve Water,” “Mercy and Laudato Si: Clean the Air,” and “Mercy and Laudati Si: Preserve the Land.” (more…)

The Experience of God’s Mercy

The fourth day of the World Apostolic Congress on Mercy was held at the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy in Mariloa, Bulacan, in the Philippines. The focus of the day was the experience of God’s mercy.

The 100-ft. statue of The Divine Mercy was erected in Bulacan, Philippines, to commemorate WACOM 4.

To experience God’s mercy, international delegates at WACOM 4 took pilgrimages to various “places of mercy” in that region in the Philippines — orphanages, hospitals, elderly homes, and other apostolates for the poor. In the afternoon, the National Secretariat for Social Action-Justice and Peace for the Philippines, Archbishop Rolando Tria Tirona, OCD, DD, spoke on “Witnessing to the Mercy of God as the Church of and for the Poor.” (more…)

Day 3 of WACOM 4

Remembering and Celebrating the Mercy of God as a Forgiven and Forgiving Community

January 18, 2017 was the third day of WACOM 4 (the Fourth Apostolic Congress on Mercy) in Manila, Philippines. The events of the day took place at the National Shrine and Parish of St. Padre Pio in Santo, Tomas, Batangas.

Day Three of WACOM 4 focused on “The Church being a Forgiven and Forgiving Community.” The day began with the enthronement of the Divine Mercy image and an image of Our Lady of Mercy. Throughout the day, 120 priests heard confessions at the National Shrine and Parish of St. Padre Pio. (more…)
